Can my partner manage my membership too?
Suppose your partner is included in the same Medibank membership. In that case, they can manage most aspects of the membership, such as making claims, adding or removing dependents, changing cover, and suspending the membership unless you otherwise advise. However, only policyholders can remove themselves from or cancel their membership. Both you and your partner may receive information regarding the registered membership details.
Can I add a dependent child to my existing membership?
Adding a dependent child may increase the cost of premiums you pay.
Single Membership: You can add a dependent child by changing to a family or single-parent family membership within two months of their birth or inclusion in your family unit to avoid waiting periods already served by the policyholder.
Couple or Family Membership: You can add a dependent child within 12 months of their birth or inclusion in the family unit, generally without them needing to serve waiting periods already served by the policyholder. Changes can be backdated or commence from a chosen date.
If I have children, how long can they be insured on my cover?
Children can remain insured on your family policy until they turn 21. If classified as a Student Dependent or Adult Dependent and unmarried, they can stay insured until they turn 31, possibly at an additional cost for Adult Dependents.
